About Us
Agility Physical Therapy & Sports Performance is a comprehensive orthopedic and sports physical therapy clinic serving the greater Kalamazoo, Michigan area. Our clinical staff has advanced training in many different areas to handle even the most complicated of musculoskeletal injuries. We have the only Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy in the Southwest Michigan Area and two Board Certified Clinical Specialists in Orthopedics on our staff.
The co-owners of Agility Physical Therapy & Sports Performance (APT&SP) worked together in 1999 to develop a successful sports medicine program in Grand Rapids. With the same philosophy and vision, they strategically started this program in the greater Kalamazoo area in 2007. Since that time, APT&SP has become one of the premier sports physical therapy programs in the area with a higher standard of practice that was accomplished through the combination of an expert staff of specialized physical therapist’s and a variety of services not offered in the area. Leading the charge is Scott Miller, PT, MS, SCS, CSCS, TPI-CGFI, Partner and Director of Clinical Operations at APT&SP.
Prior to returning to Portage, Miller did his undergraduate and graduate work at Grand Valley State University and was hired in 1999 by Steve Davidson, former President/CEO of RehabPros, to develop and manage a new sports medicine program in Grand Rapids (GRSportsCenter, the Sports Medicine Division of RehabPros). Miller, along with a “dream team” of physicians, PT’s, PTA’s and ATC’s, created a very successful sports medicine program serving the West Michigan community.
In 2006, Miller had an opportunity to rejoin Davidson, now Co-owner/CEO of Agility Health®, to form a new partnership. Agility Health® is a well-established rehabilitation service corporation based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. One division of Agility Health® is dedicated to establishing outpatient physical therapy partnerships, which lead to the beginning of Agility Physical Therapy & Sports Performance. This partnership allowed Miller to return to his “home” community to live near his family, and to pursue his passion for sports physical therapy. With the help of Kevin Crossman, PT and Director of Outpatient Operations at Agility Health®, Portage was ideal for the new location for APT&SP. The clinic opened in March of 2007 and was ready to offer the same specialty services and sports performance programs to Southwest Michigan.

This new sports physical therapy program in Portage was developed using the same successful “blue print” that was utilized in Grand Rapids. The clinical staff at APT&SP has advanced training in several different areas of physical therapy. Miller is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and the only Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy in Southwest Michigan.

With continued growth and success, Miller has been able to add several experienced staff members to Team Agility, including the addition of Adam Swain and his staff (formerly of Physical Therapy Services) in February of 2010. With a combined clinical experience of over 125 years in practice, APT&SP now has all the “Heavy Hitters” in Kalamazoo working on the same team. Having two offices located strategically in both the Kalamazoo and Portage, we are able to provide service for a larger demographic area in the community.

The primary goal at APT&SP is to provide the most comprehensive services in Southwest Michigan through an evidence-based approach. This is accomplished through the pursuit of advanced certifications and continuing education by all the staff at Agility. The foundation for success is delivering cutting-edge healthcare and quality customer service. By teaming up with various community partners, APT&SP has been able to build strong relationships with physicians, individuals and companies that are “leaders” in their field. Finally, APT&SP has dedicated itself to playing a big role in Portage and Kalamazoo community activities, including youth and adult activities, running, cycling and triathlon groups, and school athletics.
